Matrin in Fresh produce
At the moment there is a lot of attention for Matrin residues in fresh produce. Matrin is an alkaloid that is produced by plants of the genus Sophora. This compound is used a s an insecticide in some countries but has no EU-approval as a plant protection product. This means that the use of Matrin is not allowed as a plant protection product in the EU and has a default MRL of 0,01 mg/kg.
Matrin is measured in the multi-residue method and is mentioned on analysis list v20 for fresh produce.
